Finally here!

After three long flights of practically no sleeping, we are finally here! The first thing we did was get on a bus to the metro while everyone was staring us with our huge packs, the took the metro to downtown and walked a few blocks to our hostel. We all unpacked in our rooms and got ready for dinner at 7. Dinner was so good, traditional roast beef with dumplings and a Czech gravy sauce with apple streudal for dessert. We were all so tired after we were practically falling asleep at the restaurant so we walked back to our hostel and all crashed.

All four senior women are in the same apartment and we have an amazing view of the square, hopefully I can attach pictures to this! I'm getting ready to get up and go get some coffee and breakfast at a cafe now and then go grocery shopping with a few people. I could stay here a while I think...

Forgot to post this this morning so I'll finish the day. Unfortunately I can't post pictures on here from my iPad, so I'll put some on Facebook and link this to them. We had a long day of learning the tram and metro and seeing all the other parts of Prague. We first split up into two groups to get around then around dinner time split up into smaller groups to go out and find restaurants and to report back to the group about how good or not good the restaurant was. I went off with 3 people to sit at a cafe and warm up with some coffee, walked around some more and had dinner at a traditional Czech restaurant. After our group church session we walked across the Charles bridge and walked through all the alleys looking for dessert while people watching. Tomorrow we get to go grocery shpping in the morning and then go to our art studio. But now I'm going to bed, it's been a long day! Na schledanou!

Dallas airport

1 flight down, 2 to go. My aunt Donna and mom just drove to the Dallas airport so they could wave at me 150 ft away from security and try and watch our plane take off.

We are about to board a huge double decker plane to London! Never been on that large of a plane before! Looking forward to the next 9 hour plane ride!

April 6th, 2011

Hey everyone! This is going to be my official blog that I'll hopefully keep up daily or every other day while in Prague. We have four more days until the real trip has started so more will come soon! For now though I'll explain a bit about the trip...

The Prague abroad as announced last year in the Fall I believe. Since it was announced, I had my eye on the trip. We all applied this past Fall during and started the interview process until we found out who made it on the abroad on Friday of week six. Twenty-one students, two professors, and one RC. Out of the twenty-one students, there are seventeen girls, and four guys. We will be in the Czech Republic for a total of eight weeks starting in April. The first five weeks of the trip, we will be right in the city of Prague staying in hostel apartments (so we have our own kitchen to cook :) )right next to St. Vitus Cathedral on one side, with a dance club on the other side, and the US Embassy behind us. We will be taking the tram every morning to our rented studio where we will take art classes from Paul Ryan, and creative writing from Dinah Ryan. During that time we will take several day trips to museums, castles, cathedrals, etc. The last three weeks of the trip will we go to smaller cities in the Czech Republic to get more perspectives of the country. I'm looking forward to exploring the city, learning more about its history, and enjoying the many cafes that line the city. More to come soon!
