Graffiti and a Czech soccer game

A few days ago we met with Point, a graffiti artist in Prague. With his help, were painting the side of a building in the city. We are separated into 3 groups of 7 to work with him on 3 different days. I'm in group 2, and we worked on it today from 11-5:30. We basically just painted over the top part of the building with white paint to give us a fresh start. Our theme for the wall is a labyrinth since Prague is often called a labyrinthine city. So we did a silhouetted city scape of Prague going up the side of the wall, with intertwining lines really heavy in the beginning that gradually separate towards the right hand side of the wall. When all the lines are finished, we are going to add colored shapes throughout to give it a more graffiti feel.

Here is Point looking at our progress

This is pretty much what it looked like when we left, probably doesn't look like much progress, but it took so much time painting the whole wall white and working on the "labyrinth" part

After working on the building all day, a few of us decided to go to the Praha Sparta professional soccer game. For as much as we have done and how great everything has been so far, this has definitely been the highlight of the trip so far.

The field before the game

We had a great view

The fans starting to chant something in Czech as the players come out

So the crazy Sparta fans on the other side of the stadium, (don't worry mom, we were in the calmer section) started a fire in the stands several times and set off fireworks throughout the game. We thought it was really weird and kind of made us nervous, but nobody else seemed concerned so we just went with it...

Definitely made the game a little hazy though

Anyway, the Praha team won, which we felt was probably best so there wouldn't be any angry fans to start riots or anything, but it turns out they just kind of happen anyway no matter what. Nothing big happened, just small groups of people went kind of crazy after the game causing riot police to come out. I'm just going to call it a cultural experience and try a hockey game next...
